Fandoms like bronies, furries etc. are not that bad.

People usually mistake those groups for being perverted and weird, while those are just people having fun and being sometimes really creative with creating their own characters and personas. It's just a hobby, some people collect figurines, some go to LARPs, and other dress up like animals, what's wrong with that? What people might be getting wrong though are the things that unfortunately got popular, even though they are the minority of the fandoms, so when you think of perverted furries you really think of yiffs, and when you think of perverted bronies you really think of clop. Just like with anime - there's either anime and manga or hentai, this is the exact same thing. Not all people who enjoy anime must be into hentai, not all anime must be focused on sex.About grown men and women in fandoms like that - what about Disney fandoms? There are adults who go on meetings dressed up as a fucking Mickey Mouse, and what's wrong with that? As long as they're civil and don't act perverted towards minors, they are completely fine and just having a hobby that they like.I was in a brony fandom when I was between 14 and 16 and honestly, I had a lot of fun. I've met both teenage and adult bronies and both sides were just cool people to hang out with, also very responsible (I remember when adults wanted to go and drink somewhere, they were splitting with minors who would just go somewhere else and enjoy talking about the episodes, favourite characters, fan creations etc.).This is really way more innocent than you think it is, ALTHOUGH you still need to be careful, because pedophiles also can sometimes appear. I personally never met one, but I heard of a story that a 13 year old girl was raped by some dude, because she reminded him of FlutterShy... But as I said, it was a single situation and the motherfucker got arrested fortunately. via /r/unpopularopinion
